Over the last a month or two I noticed that quiet often some articles on some feeds have corrupted characters.
For example:
I noticed this is happening on The Verge and sometimes Engadget feeds.
It’s corrupted no matter what font I use in Bazqux. And also if I’m reading on mobile website or rss reader apps on Android and iOS.
Some of the feed items are actually corrupted.
E.g. https://www.theverge.com/rss/index.xml has

if there’s a line
There’s not much I can do there. You could try emailing The Verge about the broken encoding in some of the articles in their RSS feed.
I contacted them. They replied that it’s a known issue and they are working to fix it.
