Specific feed not working

I subscribe to https://www.dailykos.com/rss/index.xml and the feeds are not updating but when I go to that link I see ‘new’ stuff that should have shown up in the reader. I have unsubscribed and resubscribed but the reader still only goes to what I have seen already - nothing new. Ideas?

For some reason Dailykos always return empty feed (with a strange “HTTP 202 Accepted” status code) to my feeds fetcher. I’ve tried several different servers (at Linode and Hetzner) and it doesn’t work.

Maybe you could ask them to fix their feed.

A reply from the DailyKos received some time ago by @charlie_board (in short, use https://feeds.feedburner.com/dailykos/zyrjlhwgaef):

Thanks for asking.

It is true that we recently (in January) had to overhaul our RSS feed system. Most of the work is now completed, however, and your feed reader ought to pick up our RSS feed as usual, either for the home page (blog) or for other site blogs. If it’s not automatic, please load http://feeds.dailykosmedia.com/dailykosofficial If that works for you, that’s great. There is also this alternative to try https://feeds.feedburner.com/dailykos/zyrjlhwgaef

At roughly the same time, we had to take steps to increase our site security in the wake of a DDoS attack. One of our precautions included blocking certain IP addresses in use by popular VPNs. We do support people using VPNs; we use them ourselves for all the usual reasons. If your particular IP got blocked, we were probably getting malicious traffic from that specific location.

Accordingly, we suspect that the root cause of problems with RSS access for some people might actually be a blocked IP, not a broken feed. If this might apply to you, then you might want to try a different location within your VPN, to find an IP that has a more benign reputation that will then allow you to access our feed.

Please let us know if you’re still running into difficulties. The suggestions provided above are working for most folks but not quite everyone.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
